longing haiku 9-16

how soon we forget
a desire fulfilled is a
wick that’s been burned down

keep your friends close and
your enemies closer and
your muses in flight

i left my heart in
someone’s pocket they threw it
in with the laundry

i want to be numb
float down the stream on a raft
a big bumper boat

is this on the test
if not i’ll daydream about
cute boys and sweaters

there’s nothing to say
now that the line has been drawn
we can’t get back there

my need is a pit
so hollow it’s without sides
black tar sucking hole

the orange blossom
smells sweeter than sugar on
cotton candy cake
